Every time you log onto the internet, your internet service provider / wireless provider is watching your every move, spying on you, and selling your data ‘anonymized’ to data brokers who in turn make money off of your data - browsing history, location, etc… That data is not anonymous by any stretch. Exhibit A and Exhibit B.
This is a privacy concern to say the least. A VPN fixes that by channeling and encrypting your traffic through another server called a proxy. Now your internet service provider / wireless provider only sees that you are on the server through which your VPN runs. They cannot see anything else. For this reason alone, a VPN is worth it.
A second but no less serious concern is security. Often we login to wifi at a local restaurant, coffee shop, school, library, airport, hotel, etc… These wifi networks are not secure and put all of your data at risk. It is an enormous liability if you have financial information and personal information on your device. Using a VPN when accessing those public networks fixes that issue by encrypting your connection.
VPNs are a dime a dozen and often a marketing game with race to the bottom promises if you sign up for long term contracts. The problem is, these companies are often not using open source code, they often get caught keeping logs of your traffic - see here - and you are put on a server with dozens if not hundreds of other users.
Brem doesn’t like any of that. We are happy to inform you that we found a fantastic solution by the folks at “Jigsaw” called Outline VPN. It is a fully open source, audited, and self hosted solution with a strict no logs policy. If you have the know how, you can create your own instance. If that kind of thing falls outside your technical wheel house, Brem is happy to host an Outline VPN instance for you, on your own server, with no logs. We don’t do long term contracts, just month to month. Marketing games and pricing shenanigans are against everything we stand for.
Reach out and we’ll get you going today for $9.99 a month, no contracts, and a 30 day refund if you are not completely satisfied.
